Narrareach on Android
Thanks for trying Narrareach on Android. The app is in beta, so you install it from this page instead of Google Play. It takes about five minutes, and we explain each step along the way.
Step 1
Download the app
Use Wi-Fi if you can. The file is about 90 MB, so it can be slow or stall on mobile data.

Install the app

Open the file you downloaded
When the download finishes, tap Open in the notification. If you missed it, open your Downloads folder and tap the newest file ending in .apk. That file is the app.

Let your browser install it
Android will ask for permission first. It does this for every app that comes from outside Google Play, to keep you safe, so the question is normal. Tap Settings, switch on Allow from this source, then go back.

Tap Install
You may see a notice from Google Play Protect. It appears because Google has not seen the app in its store yet, not because something is wrong. Choose Install anyway to carry on.

Sign in with your Narrareach account
Use the same email and sign-in you use on the web. Your drafts, schedule, and connected channels will already be there, because the app and the website share one account.
Step 3
Connect your channels
Anything you already connected on the web is here too, so you may have nothing to do. To connect or refresh a channel from your phone, open Account, choose the channel, and follow the steps shown. For Substack and Medium you sign in once inside the Narrareach window. The app keeps only the session it needs to publish for you. It never sees or stores your password.
For Medium, please choose email sign-in. Google or Apple sign-in opens a separate browser, so the app never receives the connection.
Updates
Update the app
Automatic updates come from Google Play, so during the beta the app cannot update itself. We will email you when a new version is ready. Come back to this page, download it, and install it over the one you have. You stay signed in and nothing is lost.

Before you ask
The download stops or gets stuck
Sorry about that. It is usually the connection: the file is about 90 MB, which is a lot for mobile data. Connect to Wi-Fi, open this page in Chrome, and keep the screen on until it finishes. If it stalls again, cancel it and tap Download once more. If it keeps happening, email us and we will find another way to get it to you.
My phone says it cannot install apps from this source
That is Android protecting you, and it only needs your permission once. Tap Settings in that message, switch on Allow from this source for the browser you used, then go back and tap Install. If you would like to switch it off again afterwards, go to Settings → Apps → Special app access → Install unknown apps.
I see “App not installed”
This usually means the phone is short on storage or the download did not finish. Free up a little space, delete the file you downloaded, and download it again. If it still will not install, email us your phone model and Android version and we will work it out with you.
Is it safe to install an app this way?
Yes. This is the official Narrareach app, built by us. Android shows warnings for any app installed outside its store, whoever made it. Only download Narrareach from this page.
Why is Narrareach not on Google Play?
The Android app is still a beta. We want to hear from early users and fix what they find first, so for now you install it from this page. It works on Android 7 and newer.
Do I need a separate subscription for the Android app?
No. The app is part of your existing Narrareach plan. Anything you schedule on your phone appears on the web, and the other way round.
Medium will not connect when I use Google sign-in
Please choose Medium’s email sign-in instead. Signing in with Google or Apple opens a separate browser outside the app, so Narrareach never receives the session it needs to publish for you.
Does my phone need to stay on for scheduled posts to publish?
No. Scheduled posts are published from our servers, not from your phone, so you can close the app or switch your phone off.
How do I remove the app?
Uninstall it like any other app. Your Narrareach account, drafts, and schedule stay safe on the web.
